St John's International School
St John's International School is an independent day and boarding school in Sidmouth, East Devon, educating children from Nursery (age 2) through to GCSE. Set in historic buildings a short walk from the town centre and seafront, it is a small, nurturing school where every pupil is known as an individual and learning is shaped around each child's pace and needs.
The youngest children enjoy creative classrooms and dedicated outdoor play areas, with weekly Forest School, swimming, PE, music and Spanish, plus beach school in the summer term. The Junior School combines high academic standards with a focus on resilience, empathy and kindness, while the Senior School offers an engaging Key Stage 3 curriculum and a broad choice of IGCSE/GCSE subjects at Key Stage 4.
Facilities include an indoor swimming pool, sports hall, tennis courts and playing fields. The school's ethos values success in all its forms (academic achievement, personal growth, curiosity and kindness) and links classroom learning to real-world skills.
St John's is part of the SEK-IES international network of schools and universities, which spans 17 countries. Its boarding house welcomes students from around the world for a term or a full academic year, bringing a genuinely international dimension to the Sidmouth community.
Summer programmes are also available.
Rather than generic open days, the school offers personal visits so families can see it in action and ask their questions directly.
